MUSIC-LOVERS are in for a treat this month as the Allander Record Fair comes to Dunfermline's Kingsgate Shopping Centre.

The fair features as massive selection of CDs and vinyl, and also offers the chance to sell and trade some of your own collection.

It's running from Friday, May 24, until Sunday, May 26, with dealers selling records and CDs covering everything from rock, punk, indie and soul, to classical, blues and jazz.

There will be music on offer from the 1950s through to the 1990s.

Chris Pleasance, owner of Allander Record Fairs, has run the Dunfermline CD and Record Fair since 1988, previously at various venues before moving to the Kingsgate.

He believes the fair is the perfect opportunity for young music-lovers to start, or even grow, their record collections. With the resurgence of vinyl there's no better place to grab a quick bargain or even peruse some of the rare records on offer.

To help get you started, Allander Record Fairs have teamed up with the Press to run a competition, with a first-place prize of £50 in vouchers to spend at the fair and a runners-up prize of £25 in vouchers.

To be in with a chance of winning, answer the following three questions:

  • Which local band had a hit with Love Hurts?
  • Which Scottish band had a hit with Shang-A-Lang?
  • And who had a hit with Devil Gate Drive?

To enter, simply email your answers, along with your name and a contact phone number, to editorial@dunfermlinepress.co.uk and include 'CD and Record Fair competition' in the subject line. Entries must arrive by close of business on Wednesday, May 15.

The Record and CD Fair is open 10am to 5pm on Friday, May 24, and Saturday, May 25; and 10am to 4pm on Sunday, May 26. Admission is free.
