AFTER 9000 musical fans descended on the Alhambra for 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' the theatre has asked the West Fife public what show they would like to see come here next.

The West End production proved to be a smash hit in West Fife during its six-day run and now thoughts are turning to the next big attraction, which could arrive later this year.

Theatre manager Simon Fletcher said, "We are delighted with the response to 'Joseph'.

"Now that we've got this second successful musical under our belt we feel we're now at the stage where we can invite suggestions from the public.

"It could be 'Les Miserables', 'Chicago', 'The Sound of Music', 'Evita', 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' - we're just interested to hear what people would like to see at the Alhambra." Bill Fletcher, chair of the Alhambra Trust, said, "It was a fantastic week and brought a great buzz to the town with restaurants, hotels and shops all benefiting from the large influx of visitors coming from far and wide.

"On the Saturday, when we had three performances, there was just a 10-minute turn-around between getting one audience out and the next starting to come in.

"A special mention must go to our volunteer stewards for all their efforts. The cast and crew certainly enjoyed themselves in Dunfermline and the public again responded superbly with numbers up from our first musical, 'Blood Brothers', which was also a big success.

"The run of a show creates a special atmosphere about the place and a real West End ambience." Joseph star Craig Chalmers (pictured performing at the Alhambra), who finished a three-year spell in the role at the Alhambra, could be back next year as the theatre plans to put on a big-time pantomime to rival the major Scottish cities.

"That's something we want to make happen and stop the leakage to Edinburgh and Glasgow in the panto season," said Bill Fletcher. "We've already spoken to Craig and he's very interested." Extra dates have been added for top TV comedians Jimmy Carr and Jason Manford, after they both sold out their initial dates at the Alhambra.

Jimmy Carr, who also sold out the venue last year, has added Sunday 25th July to his tour.

Jason Manford, who has just been confirmed as the new host of The One Show', will now be appearing on 17th plus 18th September.
