THE OPENING night of Rocky Horror had the Alhambra buzzing even before the first chord jolted the unsuspecting audience to attention.

The set was vibrant, the costumes glittering and the performances outstanding.

Former CBBC-star Dani Harmer proved she’s all grown up with an energetic performance as Janet, complimented by Ben Forster’s geeky Brad.

Their transformation at the hands of the sensual Frank-N-Furter (Oliver Thornton) was played out through sizzling songs and expert choreography.

Favourites the Time Warp and Sweet Transvestite had even the most reluctant dancers on their feet.

But it was Philip Franks as the Narrator who stole the show, taking the now traditional audience call-backs on the chin and almost reducing the leading lady to fits of giggles.

Not for the faint-hearted or prudish, there’s a reason why Rocky has endured for more than 40 years.

A show like this comes along once in blue moon, you’d be mad to miss it.
