Aberdour Residents Association: Notes of the quarterly business meeting held on 17th March in the Aberdour Boat Club. The chairman welcomed Fife councillor Dave Dempsey and new members, Carol Bailey, David Mathieson and Norman Niven. The association represents the interests of the villagers as a support to the community council and meets monthly. Activities are largely confined to : the village clock which they own, the triangle of ground which has a recently set up sub-committee and the pier and harbour, run on behalf of its owners, Fife Council, with a harbour master, convenor and pier and harbour committee. The need for fresh blood had been discussed and there are three new members but, with Dick Drummond also fulfilling the role of harbour master, there was still one vacancy. The party for retiring stationmaster Trevor Francis, in December, was a great success while Simon Taylor gave an excellent talk entitled 'An Aberdour Timeline' at the AGM. The Fife Plan had been through another round of consultation which was complete and was now being forwarded by Fife Council to the Scottish Government for examination. The field at the east end of the village had been removed from the plan. A small scale inquiry during the resurfacing of the High Street had been held into communication problems. The resurfacing plans for Shore Road were not scheduled for the new financial year. A 20mph speed limit was scheduled for the village as well as extra yellow lines near the Woodside Hotel. The proposal to put extra yellow lines on Main Street had been withdrawn. Pier and Harbour Committee: Roy Marrian was re-elected unanimously as convenor, committee members John Bielski, Andy Carnduff, Joan Dryburgh, and Donald McAndie (treasurer) were re-elected unanimously while new members, David Mathieson and Norman Niven were elected unanimously. All moorings had been taken and paid for and there was a waiting list of five. Aberdour Boat Club was aware of 'economic migrants' on account of the attractively priced subscription fees and priority given to local residents. There was a feeling that the triangle of ground should be kept as an open space without too much further development. The demolition of the toilet block was now the subject of a monthly report to Fife Council. The council had consent from Home Park residents for access to the site, subject to a delapidations walk, and wished to avoid damage by contractors to verges and flowers in the field. It was reported that the art work would not be reinstated in the station waiting room and was in the possession of the heritage centre steering group. The next quarterly meeting is Tuesday 9th June at 7.30pm in the boat club.

kelty KELTY Community Council: The council met in the Moray Institute on 2nd April. The meeting was attended by councillors Ann Bain, Alex Campbell and Willie Clarke. PC Gary Chrystal gave a report on the monthly crime figures for Kelty and took questions from the members. Ben Conway gave the greening report and advised that a new bench and four picnic tables will be put in Blairadam Park. Fife Council have planted a beech hedge in the Millennium Garden and tidied up the shrub beds around the village. Wild flowers will be planted again this year at the memorial, Station Road, Bath Street, Blackhall Square, Croftangry, Keltyhill Crescent and a double maze in Blairadam Park. Kelty has been entered for Fife in Bloom and the community council hopes that members of the community both young and old will get involved with the projects to improve the visual impact of the village and highlight Kelty's proud heritage. The greening group are holding a meeting on 23rd April at 7pm in the computer suite of the Moray Institute. Anyone who is interested in finding out more information, or getting involved in Kelty in Bloom, is most welcome to attend. Cllr Campbell reported on matters raised at the last meeting. He discussed waiting times with the Kelty Medical Practice. In a written reply he has been informed that a busy winter, staff shortages and difficulty getting locums have caused the issues in getting appointments but the practice is trying to recruit additional staff and the GP partners are looking at ways to try and increase the number of patients that they can see in a day. Cllr Campbell also reported that he had investigated the problem Kelty residents were experiencing when trying to get foodbank vouchers. Vouchers are not available at the health centre and anyone going there is sent to the Fife Council local office. The local office will issue them but there was some uncertainty amongst CC members about whether there is anyone available on the three days that the office is closed. To clarify the issue, Chair Fred Clarke will write to Fife Council to establish their procedure for issuing the vouchers in Kelty. He said that he would also like to take up the offer from John Drylie, the Chair of Dunfermline Foodbank, to address a CC meeting. Cllr Campbell also stated that the skate park development has been submitted for planning approval and hopefully it will be underway soon. Building work has started at Lime Park Crescent and work will commence at the top of Seafar Drive in the next few weeks. The chair announced that due to the general election the next meeting will be held on Tuesday 5th May at 6.30pm.

wellwood WELLWOOD Community Council held their monthly meeting at The Well on Thursday 2nd April. They were joined by councillors Helen Law, David Mogg and William Campbell and police officers Lee Morris and Derek Skene. Chairman Chris Ingram began by thanking all those in attendance and gave an update on the new playpark. Only the FET application is still to be complete and the planning application should be applied for in the coming week. Clare Hill is assisting with this and we are expecting to hear back from the first applications in the coming week. Ann from the floral group then updated everyone on their progress. Plans were drawn up to create a flower garden on the grassed area across from the shop and should be presented to the members shortly for approval. Aileen from Gillespie Church and Leanne from the Salvation Army kindly offered boxes of wildflower seeds and it was suggested a joint effort to organise an area and planting event. Gillespie also asked if it would be okay to create tin can planters at the kids club to decorate the recycling area. This was given the full support of everyone in attendance. The school project took a massive step forward with the final meeting between Campbell McCrae and WCC before the start of the business plan/feasibility study. This should be complete in the coming weeks and WCC are currently working on a press release to promote this project and gather information. Cllr Law has arranged a meeting in the coming weeks to take place in Burt Street with Fife Council, CC members and local police to establish a way forward with the current parking issues. After a local resident approached the community council with concerns in Springbank Terrace they will also look at this area. The litter issues caused by lunch pupils from QAHS along with the stone throwing incidents at some properties is also being addressed by PC Lee Morris and Derek Skene. They have been in discussions with QAHS who will highlight the issues at assembly and lock the side gate to see if that helps. They have also made trips up to the village during lunchtimes to monitor the situation. Kerry has taken on the new project to introduce new Welcome to Wellwood signs at both ends of the village. There is nothing on the north side and on the south the sign is dated and in need of renewing. For the latest news regarding the village follow us on Facebook or come to our meetings at The Well. Our next meeting is on Thursday 7th May with everyone welcome. If you wish to contact WCC email jr.wellwood@hotmail.co.uk.
