THE charity taking over a dilapidated church in the centre of Dunfermline is running arts and craft sessions on Saturday.

The Yes-U-Are partnership, which has plans to develop the St Andrew-Erskine Church in Pilmuir Street as a community resource, said the sessions will culminate in a public art installation over Easter.

Appropriately, given the project to revive the old and empty church building, the theme of the art and craft workshops will be renewal / new life.

On Saturday, a team of skilled volunteers will lead a range of taster sessions including drawing, painting, textiles/sewing crafts, construction, air-drying clay and paper in the charity's newly-equipped art room at 31 High Street.

Yes-U-Are's Louise Brigden explained, "This event is aimed at anyone who would like to try their hand at art and craft.

"No artistic skills or experience are required, just a willingness to try something new and in some cases, get your hands dirty.

"The session will be the first of a series of similar sessions to be held in the run-up to Easter.

"In addition to providing opportunities for people to try their hand at arts and crafts it will work towards creating a public art installation on the theme of renewal/new life."
