MURDER most foul is being planned in Dunfermline – and Abbot House needs your help to make sure it goes ahead!

The historic Dunfermline attraction will host a murder-mystery dinner, 'The Secret of Abbot House', on 8th November, which will unravel a Victorian tale of murder and intrigue surrounding the whereabouts of a missing gem with alleged supernatural powers.

It's the first time Abbot House is hosting such an event, and with tales of a monk meeting his death in Abbot House's basement, and a 15th-century serving maid being bricked up in a fireplace, an evening of chills and thrills awaits.

The event is being organised in partnership with Glasgow-based theatre company It's A Complete Mystery, and the £35 ticket includes a full theatrical experience and two-course candlelit dinner, with all funds raised going towards Abbot House.

But only 10 guests are on board so far, and Abbot House is urging West Fifers to sign up by tomorrow (Friday) to help ensure the murder-mystery goes ahead.

Events coordinator Madeleine Hewlet told the Press, “As far as we know we've never done anything like this before and it should be a really fun night.

“The age and history of the house really lend themselves to these events – it will be very atmospheric.

“The theatre company are very taken by the venue and are very keen, but need 35 people to go ahead.

“Unfortunately the cut-off date to decide whether we go ahead with it or not is 24th October. It would be a real shame if we couldn't do it.” She continued, “With its fascinating and colourful history, dating back more than 600 years, Abbot House is the perfect setting for a murder mystery evening.

“Please do join us for a candlelit dinner in our medieval house and help us raise funds for this historic landmark building.” 'The Secret of Abbot House' will be held from 7.30-10.30pm on 8th November. To book, log on to www.completemystery.com or call Abbot House on 01383 733266.
