THE first photograph in this week’s trip down West Fife’s Memory Lane shows members of the 2nd Fife YMCA Scout Troop at their annual camp at Crook of Devon around 1945.
The second photograph shows gas appliances being demonstrated in the lecture theatre on the first floor of the Gas Company in Canmore Street in 1952. The building later became the Gas Board showrooms and is now the Faith Mission Bookshop beside Fabric. The aim was to stimulate sales of new gas cookers, presumably to the woman of the house as there don’t seem to be many budding male cooks in the audience.
