DISCERNING diners will soon be able to enjoy the delicious delights of one of West Fife's best-known eateries – in Edinburgh!

Just 10 years after opening the Wee Restaurant in North Queensferry, husband-and-wife team Craig and Vikki Wood are set to branch out to the capital.

Their popular establishment has won several 'Restaurant of the Year' awards, and the new 40-cover branch promises the “simple good food and wine” and excellent service diners have come to expect.

Vikki revealed that the second restaurant was something they “just decided” to do.

She told the Press: “It wasn't particularly a plan, but it came upon us, so we thought, why not – we can capitalise on rugby weekends and the festival.

“Coming into Edinburgh is a new challenge and I think we're capable of running both after 10 years.

“At the moment half our customers are from Fife, half from Edinburgh. There are quite a lot of people who follow us on social media who are very excited already – we're not starting from scratch like 10 years ago.”

She also thinks the restaurant will do well in Edinburgh's cut-throat hospitality market.

She explained: “I think about other restaurants we keep going to, and what they have is consistently good food and good service.

“It takes hard work but it's achievable if you're passionate about it, and I think we will do well if we keep that consistency.”

Work on the restaurant is “progressing well and going to plan”, and Vikki joked: "It's not been as stressful as the first time, when we did the refurbishment, moved house and I gave birth, all in one month – anything will be less stressful than that!

“Our opening night is pretty much full, with regulars who want to support us because it's going to be nerve-wracking although we've been doing this for 10 years.

“It will be nice to open with people we know, and also get the chance to meet new people.”

Craig, Catering in Scotland's reigning 'Chef of the Year', added: “Our decision to bring the Wee Restaurant to Edinburgh will allow more of our existing customers, and lots of potential new ones, to experience our brand.

“Our driving force from the start has always been to exceed customer expectations, ensuring they have a great experience.

“We look forward to delivering a similar experience in Edinburgh.”
