A 17TH CENTURY pub in Culross is up for sale with a price tag of £1.2 million.
That’s what it could take to buy the freehold of The Red Lion, a two-storey inn in the heart of the village.
Stuart Drysdale, who is handling the sale on behalf of Christie & Co, said: “This successful pub and restaurant business is up for sale due to the current owners planning to retire and spend more time sailing on their yacht in the summer and skiing in the winter.
“The sale presents an excellent opportunity to take on a busy public house with strong food sales and little immediate local competition within a charming village made famous by the silver screen.”
Culross was used in the filming of TV hit series Outlander last year and visitor numbers in the village, according to Fife Council, have risen by 12 per cent since then.
It has also been the setting for the children’s film, The Little Vampire.
The Red Lion, which has three main bar areas, a large outdoor area and car park, overlooks the Forth and is close to the start of the Fife Coastal Trail.
The business currently trades seven days a week, with food served from noon until 9pm.
