THE red carpet was laid out for star pupils at Inverkeithing High last Wednesday as the school came together for its annual awards ceremony.
Staff and parents packed into the school watched on with pride as youngsters from across the year groups were rewarded for their achievements across a wide range of areas both within and outwith the curriculum.
More than 80 awards were presented throughout the evening, which was attended by guests including Education Scotland’s Peter McNaughton and Fife Council’s depute leader Lesley Laird, recognising excellence in areas such as academic subjects, sport and volunteering.
The roles of head boy and head girl were handed over to Benjamin Slaney and Katy Roberts from Martin Young and Tain Bruce, while the 2016 S5 and S6 Dux, Proxime Accessit and third place medal winners were also revealed.
Presentations ranged from subject awards for S4-S6 pupils sitting National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher grades; “Outstanding Contribution” awards in subjects such as drama, modern languages, music, science and sport; the Saltire Awards, recognising pupils taking part in volunteering; and the Christopher Coutts Memorial Trophy, in honour of the former pupil that encourages pupils to “inspire others to achieve”.
