WEST Fifers are invited to an afternoon of fun at Dunfermline Fire Station's free Emergency Services open day on Saturday.

Visitors will be able to enjoy face-painting, cake and candy, charity stalls, a tombola, demonstrations, and the always popular display of emergency vehicles.

There will also be guest appearances from the Spartans gymnastic group, who recently appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, and a Mr Bean impersonator.

Police Scotland, the Fife Community Safety Partnership and Water Safety Fife will be on hand to provide advice on staying safe at home, in the water and in the car. The Scouts will also be attending.

Throughout the day the fire service crew will be running a series of practical demonstrations throughout the day and community safety staff will also be on hand to give advice about fire safety, answer questions and arrange free home fire safety visits.

Firefighter Graham Barclay said: “This open day is sure to be a great free family day out that is not to be missed.

“A variety of vehicles will be on display and visitors will be able to see the huge range of equipment that are carried on board each appliance which allows all of our emergency services colleagues to deal with any 999 emergency.

“We would love to see as many people from our local community there as possible – come along and join us for a fun family day out.”

The event, from 11am to 4pm, will also be raising money for the Fire Fighters Charity and the Scottish Burned Children's Club.
