A DUNFERMLINE man crashed his car when more than four times over the limit.
Paul Chapman, 43, of Victoria Street, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on January 21 in South Street, Lochgelly and elsewhere, he drove a car having consumed excess alcohol.
His reading was 92 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 22 microgrammes.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said police were called to the accident at 5.30am and found Chapman under the influence of alcohol.
The crash had resulted in a wheel on his car becoming detached from its axle. Chapman was sitting in the driver’s seat.
Defence solicitor James Moncrieff said his client had “significant difficulties in his personal life at the time and was not likely to repeat this in future”.
Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed a community payback order with 180 hours of unpaid work and banned Chapman from driving for two years.
