SOME direct descendants of Andrew Carnegie's younger brother were in Dunfermline last weekend and had the chance to learn about their famous ancestor.
Sarah Stettinus' great, great grandfather was Tom Carnegie who was a senior member of the Carnegie Brothers Steel Company.
She, along with husband Ted and children Teddy and Lucy, travelled from Washington DC to Scotland for a holiday and enjoyed a Discover Dunfermline tour.
Guide Jack Pryde said it was a great honour to take the booking from the family.
"Although from Washington D.C, the family still spend time each year on Cumberland Island, just off the coast of Georgia, which was Tom Carnegie and his wife Lucy's private retreat," he explained.
"There are still Carnegie descendants in the area and they also know several descendants of George Lauder, Andrew and Tom's uncle, who had a shop in Dunfermline's High Street."
After seeing what Dunfermline has to offer – including the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace and Museum – Sarah said the visit had been one of the family's Scottish highlights.
