A POLICE investigation has been launched following the death of a 75- year-old resident at Canmore Lodge care home in Dunfermline.
Concerns have been raised about the care of the elderly man, who passed away last week.
Canmore Lodge is owned by Barchester Healthcare and is a purpose-built care home providing nursing, dementia and respite care for up to 68 people.
Relatives described care at the home as "first class" in its most recent inspection by the Care Inspectorate in February.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in Fife are currently investigating concerns relating to the care of a 75-year-old resident of a care home in Dunfermline, which were reported on August 11.
"The man sadly passed away in Victoria Hospital on August 25 and enquiries into the full circumstances are continuing. A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
A spokesperson from Canmore Lodge said: "The team offer their deepest condolences to the family of our resident.
"The safety and wellbeing of our residents is our utmost priority and we are working with the relevant authorities to assist in their investigation.
"We respect the privacy of our residents in all matters and can therefore make no further comment."
