A DUNFERMLINE peacemaker turned villain after headbutting a man at The Brasshouse.
A heated exchange began between two other parties in the town centre bar and William McCracken originally involved himself as a peacemaker in the brawl.
The 48-year-old, of Trondheim Place, previously admitted that on November 12, 2016, at The Brasshouse, Carnegie Drive, he did assault a male and did headbutt him on the face all to his injury and on January 5, having given an undertaking to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, did without reasonable excuse, fail to appear.
Depute fiscal Carrie Stevens said: "At around 1am, the complainer was in the bar when McCracken approached whilst he was arguing with a third party.
"Accusations were thrown and the accused headbutted the complainer.
"There was no significant injury but the complainer had pain to his upper lip. He contacted the police and the accused was later charged."
Defence solicitor O'Neil told Dunfermline Sheriff Court that his client failed to turn up on January 5 because he got his dates mixed up.
He then went on to explain the incident at The Brasshouse and said: "Mr McCracken had been in the company of his family at the bar.
"The complainer is someone that used to be in a relationship with his partner and there was certainly ill-feeling between the parties.
"There was a heated exchanged and he originally went to be a peacemaker in this incident but things got out of hand."
Sheriff Craig McSherry was ordered to pay £500 in compensation and fined another £100 for failing to turn up at court.
