POLICE are to increase patrols in the Townhill area after a break-in at the primary school.

Vandals smashed glass panes on doors at Townhill Primary School, on Chisholm Street, between Friday and Monday.

A staff member discovered broken glass on the floor of the extension at the school on Monday morning.

A post on the Townhill Primary School and Nursery Facebook page said: "Unfortunately, I have come into school on the Monday holiday to catch up on work, only to find glass everywhere in the extension. If anyone has seen or heard anything, please let me know."

Community Sergeant Kenny Greig, based at Dunfermline Police Station, commented that the incident was "completely unacceptable".

He said: "We are currently investigating a break-in at Townhill Primary School, which took place sometime between the evening of Friday 4th and midday on Monday 7th May.

"This is completely unacceptable and there will be an increase in patrols in the area over the coming weekend.

"Anyone with information about this is urged to contact us via 101, quoting incident number 1708 of 7th May, or report this anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
