A DUNFERMLINE man who repeatedly stole from local supermarkets has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Stuart Duncan, 27, of Woodmill Crescent, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court after admitting the offences.
On August 21, at Tesco, Aberdour Road, he stole a quantity of food, worth £95.
On August 23, at Asda, St Leonards Street, he stole a quantity of food, worth £115.
On September 11, at Asda, Halbeath Retail Park, he stole a quantity of meat. The Crown did not have a figure for the value but there was full recovery on this occasion.
Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said the crimes were committed to fund his client’s drug habit after his methadone prescription was withdrawn.
“He accepts he has a significant record,” he added.
Sheriff Charles MacNair told Duncan: “You’ve got a bad record of previous offending and a poor record of complying with court orders.”
He said he would give him another chance of a community-based disposal but did not want to see Duncan later saying he could not do the work because of drug misuse.
The sheriff imposed a community payback order with 170 hours of unpaid work.
