A 56-year-old man is due to appear in court today (Monday) following a serious incident at Blake Street in Dunfermline on Friday afternoon.
Police say they were called to the area at 4.10pm following a report that a man was in possession of a weapon.
Parts of the area were cordoned off on Friday and some nearby residents said they could not leave their homes at the time.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in Fife have arrested and charged a 56-year-old man after officers were called to an address in the Blake Street area of Dunfermline at around 4.10pm on Friday 20 July following a report of a man in possession of a weapon.
"Officers have confirmed this is being treated as an isolated incident.
"The man was scheduled to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Monday 23 July."
