The 2018-19 Premier League season will mark Watford’s fourth consecutive in the division. The Hornets returned to the Premier League in 2015 following an eight-year exile. Since rejoining the top flight, Watford have finished 13th, 17th, and 14th respectively. The Hornets have seen a number of great Premier League goals during their current spell in the Premier League. Watford are currently in their longest period of continuous Premier League football since it became the top flight of English football in 1992.

Here is a look at Watford’s best goals in the Premier League.

Etienne Capoue, 15th April 2017

Watford vs. Swansea

Watford finished 17th in the Premier League in 2016-17. The Hornets lost their last six matches of that season, but if it wouldn’t have been for a 1-0 win over Swansea in week 32, Watford may have been relegated. Etienne Capoue’s 42nd minute strike gave the Hornets the spoils. Capoue won the ball from Swansea defender Alfie Mawson in the Swans’ final third. The midfielder’s initial shot was saved by Lukasz Fabianski, but the Frenchman rifled the rebound home. Capoue scored six times during the season, but that strike was his most important. Regarding the odds on 1xBet before the game, no one expected that!

Miguel Britos, 15th August 2017

Watford vs. Liverpool

Watford kicked off the Marco Silva era against Liverpool. Not a lot was expected of Silva’s Hornets while Liverpool’s expectations in the Premier League were sky high. It was Watford who got off to a hot start, however. Striker Stefano Okaka scored the game’s first goal in the 8th minute. The match went back and forth with the Reds taking the lead in the 57th minute thanks to Mohamed Salah. Jurgen Klopp’s team looked set to take all three points until second half stoppage time. Watford were awarded a late corner that should have been cleared by the Reds. However, defender Miguel Britos, positioned in front of Reds’ goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, bundled home a loose ball. Watford got a valuable point on their way to a respectable 14th place finish.

Odion Ighalo, 20th December 2015

Watford vs. Liverpool

Watford were in fine form when Liverpool came to Vicarage Road on the 20th of December 2015. From the moment the whistle sounded, the Hornets were all over the Reds and within quarter of an hour, they were 2-0 up. The match would end 3-0 in Watford’s favour. The best goal of the three came in the 85th minute thanks to Odion Ighalo. The Nigerian would go on to be Watford’s top scorer during the season with 15 goals, but few were as pretty as his second on this cold December day. Ighalo won the ball in midfield before dribbling through Liverpool’s non existent defence. After laying the ball off, it was sprayed out wide to Valon Behrami. The Swiss midfielder crossed the ball into the box to an unmarked Ighalo. The striker thumped a header past Liverpool’s Adam Bogdan and into the net.

Troy Deeney, 30th April 2016

Watford vs. Aston Villa

Watford’s 3-2 win over Aston Villa at the end of the 2015-16 season helped them preserve their Premier League status. Deeney scored a 90th minute equaliser to cancel out Jordan Ayew’s 48th minute striker. Deeney popped up again three minutes later to score a dramatic stoppage time winner. This goal was very important for Watford, almost as important those goals scored in the World Cup by Scotland.
