A CHAMPIONS League Final party ended in bloodshed when a man burst a friend's lip open.

Daryl Miekleham, 24, punched his pal on the face after words were exchanged during the early hours of the morning.

Earlier on in the evening, the group of friends had been celebrating Real Madrid's win over Atlético Madrid.

The accused had left the party by the time the police arrived following the bust-up, but was traced nearby and arrested.

The incident happened at an address in Bavelaw Street on May 29, 2016.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court last week, Miekleham pleaded guilty to punching a man on the head to his injury.

In defence it was explained that those at the party were not happy with the way the accused was behaving.

Miekleham was said to have panicked when he became surrounded and "reacted poorly to the situation" by punching out.

Sheriff Ian Fleming ordered the accused, of Centre Street, to pay his victim £250 compensation. Miekleham was also sentenced to a Community Payback Order with supervision for a year and 135 hours of unpaid work.
