A ROSYTH man who raped and physically abused two women over a 10-year period has been jailed.

Oliver Dalgleish, 28, attacked the females, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at various locations in Fife and the Scottish Borders between December 2006 and October 2016.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard how Dalgleish also physically assaulted another two women, who also cannot be named, over the same period of time.

He also placed another woman in a state of fear and alarm by indulging in threatening behaviour towards her.

Dalgleish, of Camdean Crescent, denied carrying out the sex attacks on the women.

But today (Thursday), jurors convicted the first offender on a total of seven charges.

Judge Lady Scott remanded Dalgleish in custody but deferred sentence for the court to obtain reports.

She said: “Given the seriousness of these offences, you will be remanded in custody. I am also calling for a social work inquiry report.

“It is in your interests for you to co-operate with the authors of this report.”

Dalgleish’s first victim told the court how he used to call her derogatory names before punching her on the head and body.

She told the court of how Dalgleish also raped her in 2007.

Dalgleish also physically attacked another two women on various occasions between July 2008 and November 2010. The attacks took place at locations in Fife and Midlothian.

In 2013, he placed another woman in a state of fear and alarm by calling her abusive names.

The court heard how Dalgleish raped another woman between September 2013 and October 31, 2016.

The woman, who was aged 22, told jurors of how Dalgleish had non-consensual sex with her while she slept.

She added: “It was rape. I woke up and he was on top of me. I said no and he did it anyway.

“There was no acknowledgement to me of what I said. He’d just continue to do it.”

Giving evidence, Dalgleish admitted to defence advocate Susan Duff that he called the women derogatory names and physically assaulted them.

But he said he wasn’t guilty of sexual assault.

Ms Duff asked her client about his second victim. She said: “Did you rape her Mr Dalgleish?”

He replied: “No.”

Ms Duff then said: “Did you force her to have sex with you?”

Dalgleish replied: “No.”

Relatives of Dalgleish sat in the public benches and wept as the jury returned their verdict.

Prosecution lawyer Bill McVicar told Lady Scott that Dalgleish had no previous convictions.

Ms Duff told Lady Scott that she’d reserve her position until the sentencing hearing.

Dalgleish will be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on October 30.
