A MAN and woman have appeared in court charged with murdering a 36-year-old woman in Blairhall.

Aaron Donald, 27, and Laura McMurdo, 29, both from Blairhall, appeared in private at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Monday and are both facing the same murder charge.

They made no plea, were committed for further examination and were both remanded in custody.

The victim, named as Claire Turnbull, from Dunfermline, died on Friday evening at a property on Rintoul Avenue.

Officers were called to an address in the Rintoul Avenue area of Blairhall at around 7.30pm on Friday, October 5, where the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Inspector Kelly McEwan, from Dunfermline CID, said: “Our thoughts are with Claire’s family and friends at this tragic time.

"Claire's family are being supported by specialist officers and the family kindly request privacy at this time to come to terms with their loss.

“We are satisfied that this was an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else in connection.”

Neighbours in Blairhall have been left shocked by the death.

Joan Lister, 73, a former community councillor, who lives just beside the property involved in the investigation, said: "It's been a bit of a shock for everyone.

"This is a quiet village and we never have any trouble."
