SMELLS like bonfire spirit in Dunfermline with Nirvana, ACDC, Franz Ferdinand, Bon Jovi and Royal Blood providing the soundtrack for this year's fireworks display.

It takes place on Saturday November 3 in Pittencrieff Park with the entertainment starting at 6pm before the pyrotechnic spectacular lights up the night sky at 7pm.

It's one of Scotland’s biggest free fireworks displays and this year’s theme, Dunfermline Rocks, will include tracks from some of the world’s best known bands while the town's own up-and-coming stars, Foreignfox, will also play live to entertain the crowd.

Chris Foote, events manager with Dunfermline Delivers, which organises the display, said: “We’re lucky to have such an iconic setting; Pittencrieff Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Scotland, plus the historic Dunfermline Abbey and the view to the bridges provide a pretty special backdrop.

“Dunfermline Rocks is a brilliant theme. It has given us everyone’s favourite songs by the likes of Kings of Leon, Van Halen and Bon Jovi.

"We hope everyone will enjoy the family-friendly party atmosphere."

The Kingdom FM Breakfast team of Dave and Vanessa will kick-start the proceedings at 6pm with Foreignfox, who recently played alongside Admiral Fallow at St Luke’s and the Winged Ox in Glasgow, set to entertain their home crowd before the fireworks are lit.

It's expected to attract thousands of people into the town centre and Councillor Helen Law, convener of the City of Dunfermline area committee, said: “Fife Council is proud to contribute funding towards one of the best and biggest displays in Scotland which draws visitors from all over the central belt.

"It’s great to see so many people coming into town.”

Chris added: “There are lots of other events and restaurant offers in town on the day so we hope that families come and make a day of it.

“We had new measures in place last year to deal with the crowds and they worked well. We ask people to plan their trip in advance, arrive early and have a great time.

"Due to the large numbers in attendance, we are encouraging people to use public transport and the park and ride facilities where possible.

"The Kingsgate car park will be opening late until 8.30pm that night with an all-day charge of £3.80.”
