TONIGHT'S fireworks display in Dunfermline that was cancelled due to the weather will not be rescheduled.
The event, which had been due to take place in Pittencrieff Park, was called off this afternoon over safety concerns because of weather conditions.
Dunfermline Police tweeted the news of its cancellation due to high winds but hopes that it may take place on another date have been dashed.

Event organisers, Dunfermline Delivers, had anticipated tens of thousands to attend the display, but said the requirement of "significant planning time" meant it could not be rescheduled.
On the event's Facebook page, they said: "Dunfermline Fireworks attract crowds of up to 40,000. Transport and policing arrangements for the fireworks require significant planning time.
"For these reasons it is not possible to reschedule this event. We are very sorry that this event has had to be cancelled but the direction and speed of the wind at the height of the fireworks is a serious consideration for public safety."
