THERE may be televisions that connect to the internet, tablets and smartphones, but some Fifers are still watching hit shows in black and white.

Figures released by TV Licensing have revealed that 28 households across the Kingdom continue to shun the bright lights of the colour screen and own a nostalgic, monochrome set.

More than 400 black and white licenses are still in force in Scotland and Jim McLauchlan, from the Museum of Communications in Fife, commented: "A friend of mine never had a colour TV and the reason was that all he wanted to view was the news and the occasional current affairs programme, and to him watching that in black and white was good enough."
