ANGLERS in Dunfermline are in for a reel treat as a fishing firm prepares to set up shop in the town.

Angling Active are ready to move in to the former East Port Garage on Halbeath Road next month as they cast their line beyond their existing base in Stirling, creating at least six jobs initially.

In addition to providing West Fife with a shop that caters for everyone involved in the sport, from newcomers to those with the most experience, they want to promote and encourage youngsters to get involved in the sport.

Director Chris Grantham says that they want to show the fun and active side of angling – “busting stereotypes that are commonly associated with the sport” – by reaching out to local fisheries and schools in a bid to create partnerships.

He commented: “We are excited to announce the opening of our second store in Dunfermline. When we recently announced the opening on our social media channels, we were overwhelmed with the response and positive feedback from Fife’s angling community.”

Angling Active’s existing shop holds more than 20,000 products within a 7,000-square foot showroom, and that will be exceeded by a further 500 sq ft in the Dunfermline store, which will have 500 fishing rods on display at any one time, as well as reels, lines and other essentials from a number of top brands.

Applications for roles within the new store are being taken and, for more information, visit www.anglingactive.co.uk.
