LOCALS will get a chance to take a look at the plans for a new nursery in Halbeath this month.
The build is part of Fife Council's £30 million programme to see a huge increase in childcare facilities across the Kingdom.
More than 700 new nursery places will be provided in West Fife as part of efforts to deliver additional early learning and childcare hours.
Parents and locals are being invited along to see the plans being made for a new nursery, with community facility, at Guttergates Road, Halbeath.
The new build will offer extra placements for two to five-year-olds in the local area, as well as some space which can be used by the local community out with nursery hours.
The Council plan to build on the site of the existing Halbeath Community Leisure Centre and it is hoped the new building will be up and running for the new school term in August 2020.
With youngsters set to get 1,140 hours instead of the current 600 hours by August 2020, the West Fife area as a whole looks likely to get three new nursery centres while refurbishments and extensions are also planned at existing facilities.
The former Pitcorthie Primary School site is likely to be the place where a brand-new facility will be created in South Dunfermline, while a new build at Rosyth Resource Centre has also been proposed.
Revamps at Inzievar, Tulliallan, St Serf’s and Touch primaries will be carried out and existing crèches at Duloch and Carnegie leisure centres are also set to be turned into nursery centres.
Fife Council are holding a drop-in session to present the work which has been done so far at Halbeath, where early concept proposals will be on display and staff will be on hand to explain and answer any questions.
The drop-in session will take place on Thursday, November 22 between 2:30pm and 7:00pm at the Halbeath Community Leisure Centre, Guttergates Road, Halbeath.
