POLICE are appealing for a "potential victim of a sexual assault" in Dunfermline to come forward.

Officers are seeking to trace a woman who they believe was attacked in the Halbeath Road area of Dunfermline on the evening of Wednesday, October 17.

DS Kieran Marsh of Dunfermline CID said: “We have recently received information that a female may have been the potential victim of a sexual assault and we are appealing for her to come forward.

"I would like to provide assurances that we take such crimes seriously and any report will be treated professionally and with sensitivity, with support provided by specially trained officers."
