A GROUND-breaking machine which will let children with motor impairments experiences what it is like to walk has been unveiled Calaiswood School.

The Innowalk will be used by youngsters at the Dunfermline school and is the first of its kind to be used in the UK.

It is hoped that it will have a huge impact on the children’s concentration, core and their muscle development.

Acting headteacher Laura Spence said they were very excited to launch the special piece of kit.

“The Innowalk really has the potential to make a difference in the lives of our young people in Calaiswood School,” she said.

“We recognise the hard work that goes in to securing funding for such a large piece of equipment and this has been made possible through the effort and determination of one of our parents, Mr Paul Graham.

“HSBC UK are also pleased to be able to support the school with this equipment which will be used by Calaiswood and the wider community.”

Pupils got the chance to demonstrate the Innowalk at its official launch which was attended by Councillor Fay Sinclair, convener of the education and children’s services committee and other invited guests.

Only one other school in Scotland currently has an Innowalk, however Calaiswood has the brand new model which is the first of its kind in the UK.
