THERE is still no sign of CCTV being installed at the Duloch Tesco recycling point.

A decision to catch fly-tippers on camera was made last year but equipment it still to be installed.

Lib Dem Councillor James Calder said although locals were "furious" with the delays it appeared that no significant progress had been made to put the CCTV in place.

Cllr Calder said: "It has been almost a year since the decision was made to put in place the CCTV and it is incredible that it is taking so long.

"Many constituents are rightly furious that it is taking so long to put in CCTV at the Duloch Tesco recycling point.

"With a minority of people fly-tipping, it is important that we can deter this, but it is taking far too long to put in place.

"The council really need to get this resolved with Tesco to sort this out."

The facility at Tesco Duloch has been dogged by problems since last Christmas when mountains of rubbish left the area inaccessible.

Items such as toilets, sofas and general household waste have all been dumped and fed-up council workers have been struggling to clear it.

In September, West Fifers were warned to bin bad habits at the recycling point or have it removed.
Morag Ferguson, head of service, said: "We are aware of the issues of fly-tipping at this particular site and the need to put measures in place to reduce this.

"However, there are legal requirements for installing CCTV which the council, like all other bodies, must follow.

"The council’s data protection team has been working with the safer communities team to make sure all regulations are properly met.

"Officers are still actively working to finalise this and work is ongoing."
