A WORK van crashed into a garden after it went rolling down one of Dunfermline’s steepest hills.

Paul Anderson’s house was saved thanks to thick bushes in his front garden that broke the impact.

The 51-year-old, of Garvock Terrace, said it was “lucky” that no-one was injured.

He told the Press: “It was about 9am when the van came crashing into the garden.

“I saw the van speeding down the hill and thought, ‘That guy is parking very quickly’.

“I then saw him running furiously after it but it was too late.

“I got a shock but luckily the bushes managed to stop it. I’m just glad no-one was hurt.”

The van was loaded with equipment adding to the speed of the fall down the hill.

It is thought that the incident was caused after the handbrake snapped.

Workmen had been working at another house on the street at the time.

Paul added: “This is a busy street with lots of school kids going past so if it was a bit earlier it could have been a lot worse.

“Thankfully it didn’t hit the house but it’s a stroke of luck that it didn’t hit my car either.

"I’m normally parked right where the van hit.”
