A CONTROLLED explosion is expected to take place at Longannet later today (Thursday).
The former power station near Kincardine closed in March 2016 and Scottish Power have been carrying out decommissioning work on the site this year.
A small structure will be destroyed this afternoon subject to weather conditions.
A Scottish Power spokesperson said local residents have been sent letters warning them of potential noise disruption as a result of the demolition work conducted by contractor Brown & Mason.
The Press previously reported that a steel ‘precipitator’ structure was destroyed in April, with coal stock towers brought down in November.
