A MAN has been placed on the sex offender's register for sexual telephone calls to a person with learning difficulties.

Craig Jones appeared from custody after being remanded on October 26 for a psychiatric report.

Jones, 34, of Kempton Gardens, Bolton, previously admitted that on various occasions between July 1, 2015 and January 26, 2016 at various locations within Fife he did intentionally direct a sexual verbal communication at the lieges in that he did in the course of telephone calls repeatedly utter sexually explicit and sexually offensive remarks.

And, between October 1 and 29 2015, at Craigmyle Street, Dunfermline, he did behave in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person fear or alarm.

Depute fiscal, Dev Kapadia, explained at Dunfermline Sheriff Court that the complainant was deemed to be "extremely vulnerable".

Defence solicitor, Peter Robertson, said his client's main mitigation was that there had been no further offending.

"There has been no continuation of this behaviour and he intends to move back to Bolton," he said.

"He was remanded for failing to turn up to a psychiatric assessment.

"He pleaded guilty saving resources and unnecessary embarrassment for witnesses."

Sheriff Pino Di Emidio imposed a sentence of three year's supervision and 140 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to custody. He will also be subject to notification requirements set out in the Sex Offenders Register for three years.

He was also sentenced to 40 days of imprisonment which was backdated.
