A LUCKY Dunfermline bingo player has called 'house' on a £50,000 jackpot.

Sylvia Cuthbertson, 49, saw all her numbers come up at Carlton Bingo, at Fife Leisure Park, on the National Bingo Game.

A regular player, she was taking part in her last session before Christmas on Saturday December 22 and didn't appreciate at first just how much she had won.

Sylvia was waiting to have her claim and the value of the club prize confirmed when the bingo caller said she was £50,000 richer.

She said: "I didn’t realise I had won the jackpot and it was a shock, but once it was confirmed I felt elated and quite emotional.”

Introduced to bingo by her mum and stepfather when she was 18, she first played at Carlton Bingo’s previous club in Dunfermline's Canmore Street, now the Alhambra Theatre, and has been a regular ever since, attending once or twice a week.

The club will now hold a celebration for her on Burns Night to mark her big win.

Sylvia, who works for a hotel linen and laundry service, normally goes to the bingo on her own 'for a little me time' and admitted: "It’s only just starting to sink in. Neither my husband nor I could quite believe it at first.

"We don’t have any plans at present, though I am sure we will spend some of it on the house, doing a bit of redecorating, and on the garden."

And she added: "You should have a go, you never know!

"Anyone can win and it’s not just for old folks; there are all ages playing and a lot of young people too.”

Findlay Meechan, general manager at Carlton Bingo in Dunfermline, said: “We were all very excited on the night of the win and are very happy for Sylvia: it’s a great feeling when a customer gets a big win.

"We are looking forward to celebrating Sylvia’s big win at the club later this month with a Burns night party.”

Alastair Stewart, business development manager at the National Bingo Game, said: "We are thrilled for our lucky National Bingo Game £50,000 jackpot winner and hope that she enjoys her winnings and Burns Night party.

"We love making winners and this is our 51st £50,000 jackpot winner since May.

"We are looking forward to creating lots more in 2019.”
