A DRUG ADDICT walked into a house in Dunfermline looking for something to steal.

Serial offender Ryan Bouglas appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court and escaped with a four-month jail term.

Bouglas seemed delighted with the short sentence, shouting to a friend in the public gallery: “See you in two months.”

At 1.25pm on January 11, Bouglas walked into a house in Pilmuir Street which was occupied at the time. A family member heard the door open and then heard someone going upstairs, said depute fiscal Dev Kapadia.

“The person initially thought it was a family member but then could hear someone moving about upstairs and shouted ‘hello’,” added the depute.

Bouglas appeared and mumbled something about staying at a neighbouring B&B then left.

Bouglas, 32, of the James Bank Hostel, appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on January 11, he was found in a house at Pilmuir Street, without lawful authority to be there so that it may be reasonably inferred that he intended to commit theft there.

He also admitted being in possession of cannabis at Dunfermline police station on the same day.

Bouglas was also sentenced for previous offences.

On October 10, at Dunearn Drive, Kirkcaldy, he assaulted his partner by seizing her on the body.

On November 30, he was found in the curtilage of a home in Bennochy Grove, Kirkcaldy, without lawful authority to be there so that is could be reasonably inferred he intended to commit theft there.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said of his client: “Unfortunately, he’s been unable to keep control of his drugs issue. He doesn’t have a great recollection of some of these matters.”
