PARS stars past and present will come together on Saturday to raise funds for charity in memory of a much-loved and respected fan.

Season ticket holder Mike Mlotkiewicz, a long-time supporter of the club, passed away on December 8 2017 at the age of 63 following a short battle with cancer.

To remember his dad, son Michael – who previously worked for the club as their general manager – has organised a sold-out sportsman's dinner at the Carnegie Conference Centre, which will raise money for the Victoria Hospice at Kirkcaldy's Victoria Hospital.

Born in Dunfermline and a former pupil of St Leonard's and Queen Anne High schools, Mike was well-known throughout the town having worked in the Watering Hole pub in the 1980s – whose pool team he captained – and taken part in stock car racing.

He went on to work on the Forth Road Bridge tolls, with Sky and, latterly, TNT at Edinburgh Airport, but he retained a strong passion for the Pars throughout his life.

Former players such as Roy Barry, John Salton, Marc Millar, Derek Fleming and Martin Hardie, and members of the current squad and backroom team, will join guest speakers Jim Leishman, ex-referee John Rowbotham, and noted after dinner speaker John Gahagan, in raising money in Mike's memory.

Michael said: "My dad was a much loved and respected man and he is sadly missed.

"l am sure he would be proud to see what has been planned in his memory, and the people who are attending, including his boyhood hero, Roy Barry!

"His final days were spent in the Cancer Hospice at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. It gave me and my family an insight into the hard work and dedication of the staff and the vital service that they provide to the patients and their loved ones.

"All proceeds from the evening will go towards supporting this selfless service, which will hopefully assist in their vital work going forward. l can’t thank everyone enough for supporting the event."
