A DUNFERMLINE councillor has visited various shops asking them “not to sell eggs” to teenagers.

Gavin Ellis made the bizarre request to retailers in the Townhill Road and Bellyeoman areas after a spate of anti-social behaviour.

But he said his “crackdown” hadn’t worked as, instead of annoying residents by hurling eggs at houses, youths were apparently now throwing stones.

Cllr Ellis explained: “It seems to be a particular group of teens throwing eggs and stones. They’re walking through Alderston Drive on their way to the park at Robertson Road, that’s the issue.

“After speaking to the Co-Op on Townhill Road and Alderston Drive at the end of last year the stores become more aware of the issue, when I told them not to sell eggs.”

He wants local residents to report any incidents of vandalism or anti-social behaviour to the police and continued: “The last couple of weeks they’ve seemed to have started throwing stones after there was a crackdown on the eggs.

“I’ve seen the community police patrolling around but it’s hit or miss if you see them.

“Residents are being encouraged to ring the police so we can sort this out.”
