A DUNFERMLINE man caused a disturbance outside a house on Christmas morning and was then caught driving when more than four times over the limit.

Scott Thain, 38, of Craigmyle Street, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on December 25 at Mackie Place, he attended the address uninvited, acted aggressively, shouted and swore.

He also admitted that on Linburn Road, Halbeath Road and Queen Margaret Hospital, Whitefield Road, he drove a car and failed to stop when required to do so by police and that he was in possession of cannabis.

He further admitted that he drove having consumed excess alcohol. His reading was 101 microgrammes of alcohol on 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 22 microgrammes.

Depute fiscal Katherine Fraser said: “At 9am a witness was sleeping at his home and there were also two children in the house at the time.

“The accused attended at the premises and began banging on the front door. The accused was shouting, ‘Come out here. You’ve been s******* my missus. You’re getting leathered’.

“The accused got into his vehicle and drove off.”

Police were contacted and details of Thain’s vehicle were passed on to them. At around 9.45am the car was spotted by officers on Linburn Road and their blue lights were activated.

Thain failed to stop and was pursued by police into the grounds of Queen Margaret Hospital, where he got out of his car and ran off.

He was pursued on foot and caught by police. Thain was then found to be in possession of 35 grams of cannabis.

The court heard it was his third conviction for drink-driving.

Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed a community payback order with 200 hours of unpaid work and a £700 fine. Thain was also banned from driving for four years.
