FIFE COUNCIL will make it easier for residents to pick up free food waste bags for use in home brown bins.
Doorstep delivery – each household used to get three rolls per year –was stopped last year to save money.
The bags were still available for free at self-collection points at recycling centres, community centres, council offices and community-use schools.
But a report admitted the distribution points were “unevenly spread” with Cowdenbeath having one collection point for every 1,863 households, but in Dunfermline this dropped to one for every 4,083 homes.
Meanwhile, in South West Fife, covering homes in Rosyth, Dalgety Bay and Inverkeithing, the figure is one for every 5,305 households.
Extra collection points will be decided by area committees.
Currently, in the Dunfermline area, you can get the free bags from the Lochhead recycling centre near Wellwood, the Del Farquharson Community Centre, Dunfermline Tryst Centre, Dunfermline and Queen Anne high schools and City Chambers.
The collection ponts in South West Fife are Dalgety Bay recycling centre, Oakley and Parkgate (Rosyth) community centres and Inverkeithing High.
