WEST FIFERS could soon be able to spend a penny (or two) in a new Dunfermline restaurant and takeaway.

Edinburgh-based Montreal Properties Ltd are hoping that their proposals for the former public toilets will not be flushed away.

They have submitted a planning application to Fife Council to change the use of the public conveniences at 37 and 39 Queen Anne Street into a hot food takeaway and a licensed restaurant.

The properties are currently on the Buildings at Risk register.

The three-storey stone brick and render tenement used to have toilets on the ground floor with separate entrances and signage for ladies and gentlemen and include a date stone of AD 1939.
