IT’S official: Emilija Morrison is One to Watch after winning big at a glittering youth awards ceremony in London.

The 18-year-old was recognised as one of the finest young film-makers in the UK at the Into Film Awards on Monday night.

The Inverkeithing teenager was stunned to hear the news.

She told the Press: “I found out just four days before my 18th birthday in January!

“An awards ceremony at Leicester Square in London? I don’t think I could’ve asked for a better present!”

Emilija’s success was different to that of the other categories, in that she was one of three winners in the Ones to Watch category.

She’s now hoping it can spur her on to greater things.

“I think it’s going to propel me to work harder,” she said.

Despite her young age, she’s already accrued a wealth of experience in the film industry.

She has impressed the likes of Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh with her scriptwriting and interviewed Disney film stars in London.

Having loved writing in high school, she decided to pursue the creative aspects of film and started courses to develop her talents.

Everything fell into place from there, and in autumn 2017, she started as a Young Reporter for Into Film.

Through the youth scheme, she was whisked off to London to interview actors from Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

She said: “I was in this Soho hotel in a room filled with lots of journalists. We were called through one by one and I got to interview Mackenzie Foy and Misty Copeland.

“I’ve loved Disney films since I was a little girl, and Walt Disney is one of the biggest film companies in the world.

“It was such a great experience!”

The Into Film awards are supported by famous faces from film, including Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne, Gwendoline Christie, Charles Dance, Gemma Arterton and Will Poulter.
