LIKE a film fan let down by a big-budget blockbuster, the Press was left disappointed this week as Odeon failed to answer our questions.

Hundreds of you have signed our Press, Take, Action! petition in recent weeks calling on the screen giant to cut prices in Dunfermline and give West Fifers a fairer deal at the big screen.

And with support of our campaign growing each day, we asked Odeon three specific questions:

1. Is the Odeon prepared to listen to its customers in Dunfermline and West Fife who have voiced their concerns to us and signed our petition?

2. With enough public backing, would Odeon be willing to review its pricing policy in Dunfermline?

3. Could they clarify why Odeon Luxe Edinburgh West ticket prices are cheaper than Dunfermline when it has better facilities such as reclining seats with tables for snacks?

Responding, a spokesperson for the Odeon, said: “We have a long and proud history in the Dunfermline community and wider Fife area, and our team have been working hard to offer the latest entertainment and warm hospitality to thousands of guests since 2000.”

We aren’t disputing the quality of the hospitality or what films are available to film fans each week, we were specifically asking if they would be willing to review their ticket prices if there’s a demand from the public to make that happen, which we believe there is.

They failed to answer that question.

Secondly, the spokesperson said: “Our overall aim is to give our guests the best possible experience at great value.

“There are many factors that influence our ticket prices, including ticket type, time of day, type of film, location, and other costs.”

Let’s consider four of those five factors: ticket type, day, film and location.

Captain Marvel has hit cinemas in the past week and both Odeon Dunfermline and Odeon Edinburgh West are showing it this Saturday night at 8pm.

In Dunfermline a ticket costs: £12 (adults), £9.50 (child), £10.50 (teen), £10.50 (student), £11 (senior) and family (£8.50).

An Edinburgh West ticket for the same film, day and time is:

£2.75 cheaper for adults.

£3 cheaper for children.

£3.50 cheaper for teens.

£3 cheaper for seniors.

£3 cheaper for students.

£2 cheaper for families.

We’re being fleeced at the flicks and enough’s enough.
