A 93-YEAR-OLD man has tragically died after a house fire in Crossford.

Emergency crews raced to Miller Avenue at around 12.15pm this afternoon after reports of a fire.

The man was rushed to hospital and he was said to be in a critical condition.

Police have now confirmed this evening that he has sadly passed away.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in Fife are currently working with the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service to investigate the circumstances surrounding a fatal fire in Crossford. 

"Officers were called around 12.15pm on Wednesday 20th March to a report of a fire at a property on Miller Avenue. A 93-year-old man was taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, where he sadly died.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. The fire is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing."

Three fire engines raced to the scene this afternoon to extinguish the flames.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue service, said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 12.02pm on Wednesday, March 20 to reports of a dwelling fire in Crossford, Fife.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire engines to Miller Avenue where firefighters extinguished the fire."
