Roadworks costing £100,000 will get underway on the Crossgates roundabout at the A92 from Sunday.

Resurfacing improvements are scheduled to take five nights with the work taking place between 7.30pm and 6.30am.

Andy Thompson, of BEAR Scotland, said: “This £100,000 project for the A92 Crossgates roundabout will allow our teams to resurface the full carriageway around the roundabout, helping to create a smoother and safer road surface.

“Given the location of the project we’ve arranged for it to be completed in four different overnight phases across five nights, with alternate lane closures and diversions in place for safety and to protect our teams as well as road users during the works.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible, and we encourage all road users to follow any temporary signs or diversions which are in place for their safety and to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information.”

Some approaches and exits will be closed across different nights during the project while teams resurface the roundabout.

A series of local diversions will be in place each night and signs will be erected in advance to advise motorists of the works.

All traffic management and any diversions will be lifted during the daytime.

Consultation has taken place with the local authority, businesses, local residents and bus operators in advance of the resurfacing to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org or twitter@trafficscotland.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
