POLICE officers have found 37 cannabis plants in a building behind a row of shops in Blackburn town centre.

Two police vans were seen in Northgate, close to Hugo's Mexican restaurant and the CEX computer game exchange store last week.

Officers were called to an unoccupied restaurant at 6.30pm on Wednesday.

A spokesman for Hugo's said: "We were asked by police if they could get access to the back of the buildings from our shop but we don't have access."

A police spokesman said: "The number of plants found was 37.

"No arrests have been made at this stage."
