A FORMER Queen Anne High pupil has scooped joint second spot in a competition run by the Chinese Government.
Leah Duncan-Karrim, 20, is currently studying an MA in Chinese at Edinburgh University.
She represented the university in the event called the 'Chinese Bridge Competition' and qualified for its final, which took place in London last weekend.
She had to deliver a three-minute speech, take part in a language question and answer session and talent show and do an unprepared question section.
Proud mum Fionna Duncan said the event was attended by the Chinese ambassador to the UK, Liu Xiaoming, and other Chinese dignitaries.
"It was a full house, with approximately 400 people there, of whom 95 per cent were Chinese," she said. "It was followed by Chinese media and live-streamed on Facebook.
"Leah performed well in the final; she sang 'Wo he Ni – You and Me', which was the Beijing 2008 Olympic song, and also played a Chinese wind instrument called a hulusi."
After being awarded joint second place, Leah won £200 and is now a reserve for the international final which will be held in Beijing in July.
