DEBENHAMS has announced more than 20 stores are set to close next year.

The retailer revealed this morning (Friday) 22 of the 50 shops it plans to close as its new owners bid to revive the high street chain.

The company says 1,200 jobs will be affected by the first phase of closures.

Debenhams in Dunfermline’s Kingsgate Shopping Centre is not on the first list of stores set to close in 2020.

Kirckaldy’s branch is the only Scottish outlet named.

The full list of closures for next year is as follows:

Altrincham, Ashford, Birmingham Fort, Canterbury, Chatham, Eastbourne, Folkestone, Great Yarmouth, Guildford, Kirkcaldy, Orpington, Slough, Southport, Southsea, Staines, Stockton, Walton, Wandsworth, Welwyn Garden City, Wimbledon, Witney, Wolverhampton.
