DALGETY Bay Post office is set to re-open next month in a new location.

The service will open its doors in RS McColls in Regents Way just 20 metres from its previous premises which closed in March following the resignation of the postmaster.

After the shock closure, the Post Office had stressed that the measure was a "temporary" one and said they would work hard to maintain services in the area.

Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy MP Lesley Laird had also urged local businesses in Dalgety Bay to come forward and consider running the local Post Office services.

The new facility, which will see longer opening hours, is scheduled to launch at 1pm on Friday, May 24.

Post Office products and services will be on offer throughout the shop's opening hours from two open-plan tills at the shop counter instead of from a separate screened counter.

When the move goes ahead, the branch will open seven days a week, from 7am until 5pm Monday to Saturday and 7am to 12pm on Sunday.

Although the decision to reopen the branch has already been taken, the Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week customer engagement.

Adam Williams, Post Office Account Executive, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”

During the public consultation which runs until June 6, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered on this proposal.
