MOONLIGHT ZOO needs your support to be in with a chance of winning a life-changing $15,000.

The Dunfermline band's fate is in the public's hands after making the final 12 of a global Hard Rock Cafe Battle of the Bands competition.

A public vote will now determine whether they will land an all-expenses-paid trip to New York, where they will perform in front of music industry executives at Times Square next month on World Music Day.

Three finalists will make the trip to play at the iconic former Paramount Theatre on June 21, and the overall winner will land the top prize of $15,000.

"If the whole of Dunfermline voted for us, we'd get to go," the band's Jamie Adamson told the Press.

"Having the chance to win that kind of money could be career-changing for us all.

"People love the band and what we do. We love what we do. It's our passion and we want to make music for as long as possible.

"We're in the hands of the public and our fans now. We really want to win, so we really need everyone to get behind us."

Unsigned acts from across the world competed in the live music regional round, with Moonlight Zoo – who were winners of the Live Music Award at the inaugural Press Community Champions Awards in 2015 – one of two winners from Glasgow.

They are now competing with the best bands from Curitiba (Brazil), Moscow (Russia), Sydney (Australia), Nashville and Seattle (USA).

The public have until Wednesday, May 15 to cast their votes.

The three winning acts will then be revealed on May 22.
