A DUNFERMLINE businesswoman is heading to Iceland on a fact-finding mission.

Linn Williamson, operations director at Dunfermline’s Grill 48, is heading to the Blue Lagoon to find out how businesses are attracting visitors and making the country an aspirational destination.

After picking up some tips, the chair of the Dunfermline and West Fife Local Tourism Association is hoping to share her experience with others to help boost visitor numbers here.

“It is 25 people from around the UK who have been selected to go,” explained Linn. “We get to go to various different places and go to the Blue Lagoon.

“We also get to go to a mushroom farm, a dairy diversification farm and a commercial greenhouse project.

"We will be staying in nice hotels and go out for dinners to see how they are making the most of what they have available to them.

“We will be learning about what they are doing and how they have turned that into an aspirational place to visit.

“I want to see how we can create that in Fife and in Dunfermline. Learning from what they are doing and bringing a bit of that to Dunfermline.”

As well as the hope that the experience will help with her efforts to boost tourism in West Fife, Linn said the trip would also boost her own business.

After a successful eight years at the helm of Grill 48, Linn has just overseen a revamp of her East Port eaterie which now has a new look, new menus and new cocktails.

The area’s history is a major feature in the makeover thanks to local artist and Grill 48 team member Darren Mackenzie.

The talented employee has painted a mural on the wall which features Dunfermline Abbey, The Guildhall Linen Exchange, The City Chambers, Andrew Carnegie, The Cross and St Leonards Tower.
